Volunteer Rules & Bylaws.

1. Statement of Faith
The Society is founded upon the belief in the Holy Trinity and the Lordship of Jesus Christ. The Holy Scriptures are the inspired word of God and the final authority for faith and living.

2. Membership Eligibility
To be admitted as a member of the Society, an applicant must:
• Provide a personal profession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ;
• Demonstrate a commitment to living a Christ-centered life in accordance with the Society’s Statement of Faith;
• Agree to uphold the Great Commandments to love God and neighbor.

3. Application for Membership
A person may apply to the Board for membership in the Society. The application must include:
• A written personal testimony of their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ;
• A signed Affirmation of Faith, agreeing without reservation to the Society’s Statement of Faith and the Great Commandments (Matthew 22:37-40);
• A commitment to serve the community through the Society in a Christ-centered manner.

4. Board Review and Admission
All applications for membership shall be reviewed by the Board of Directors (or a designated Membership Committee). The Board may request an interview to ensure the applicant’s lifestyle and beliefs align with the Society’s requirements. Admission is granted by a majority vote of the Board.

5. Duties of Members
Every member must uphold the constitution of the Society and comply with these Bylaws.

6. Membership Dues
The amount of the annual membership dues, if any, must be determined by the Board.

7. Good Standing
A member is not in good standing if the member fails to pay the member’s annual membership dues, if any, and is not in good standing for so long as those dues remain unpaid. A member not in good standing may not vote at a general meeting and is deemed not to be a voting member for the purpose of consenting to a resolution of the voting members. Membership is terminated if a person is not in good standing for 6 consecutive months.

8. Accountability and Discipline
Members and Directors are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that reflects the character of Christ. If a member’s conduct or beliefs become fundamentally inconsistent with the Society’s Statement of Faith, the Board may, by special resolution, terminate their membership following a process of biblical restoration (Matthew 18:15-17).

9. Distinction Between Members and Service Recipients
Members/Directors: Must be 100% followers of Jesus Christ (per Section 24 of the BC Human Rights Code, religious preference is allowed for internal roles).
Service Recipients: The Society’s programs and support are open to everyone, regardless of background, and there is no requirement to adopt the Society’s beliefs to receive aid.

Example Implementation
Sample Membership Application Clause:
"To become a member of the Society, an individual must submit a written application to the Board of Directors. The application must include a personal testimony of faith in Jesus Christ, a signed Affirmation of Faith, and a commitment to serve the community in a Christ-centered manner. The Board may request an interview and will approve membership by majority vote."

Sample Discipline Clause:
"If a member’s conduct or beliefs become inconsistent with the Society’s Statement of Faith, the Board may, by special resolution, terminate their membership after a process of biblical restoration as outlined in Matthew 18:15-17."

These bylaws ensure clarity, legal compliance, and alignment with the Society’s mission. They are ready for direct adoption or further customization as needed.

Listen first, serve second—never judge a person’s past or current situation.

Do not "pick and choose" who is worthy of help; service is open to "everybody and anybody."

Maintain healthy, professional, and spiritual boundaries; never allow help to become coercive or manipulative.
Follow all applicable safety protocols and report any unsafe conditions or incidents to a supervisor immediately.

Volunteers must comply with the Societies Act of British Columbia and all applicable municipal bylaws (e.g., zoning, Good Neighbour regulations).
Any internal rule found to be in conflict with government legislation is void to the extent of the conflict.

Volunteers must disclose any potential conflicts of interest to the Board or supervisor.
Volunteers must not use their position for personal gain or to benefit friends or family.

9. Accountability and Discipline
Volunteers are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that reflects the character of Christ.
If a volunteer’s conduct or beliefs become inconsistent with the Society’s Statement of Faith, the Board may, after a process of biblical restoration (Matthew 18:15-17), terminate their volunteer role.
